Leonard Cohen has rescheduled two dates on his UK tour
after he realised they fell on Jewish holy days.
The 78-year-old
singer has apologised to fans for moving performances in Leeds and London in
September.
The dates
clashed with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year and Yom Kippur, the holiest day
in the calendar.
The Canadian
musician will now play the First Direct Arena in Leeds on 7 September and the
02 Arena in London on 15 September.
Cohen, famed
for songs such as Hallelujah and Suzanne, is playing a series of arena shows in
the UK in August and September.
A statement
issued on behalf of Cohen and promoter AEG apologised "deeply for the
inconvenience".
In 2013 Rosh
Hashanah starts on 5 September until the 6 September and Yom Kippur falls on 14
September.
